Understanding Bounty Equity Drops

Equity Drop Formula

Equity Drop = 1/(2+s) − 1/2, where s = opponent instant bounty / total buy-in minus rake. This represents how much less equity you need to profitably call because of the bounty prize. A larger bounty relative to the buy-in means a bigger equity drop.

PKO vs Flat Bounty

In a Progressive Knockout (PKO), you win 50% of your opponent's bounty instantly and add 50% to your own. Enter the instant portion as the opponent bounty. In a flat SKO, you win the full bounty amount. The calculator adjusts averages and baseline values accordingly.

Chip Equity Drop

Uses the one-start bounty (initial bounty at tournament start) relative to the current average stack plus blinds and antes. This gives a chip-based perspective on how much the bounty structure reduces the equity required to call compared to a standard tournament.

Pot Odds with Bounty

Leave Amount to Call blank for an all-in vs the opponent stack. The calculator adds the equity drop directly to the chip EV pot odds to show how much less equity you need when a bounty is at stake. This directly reduces the hand strength required to make a profitable call.
